Donald
E. Norris, Fine Art Photographer,
images and portraits capture the essence
of Maui, Nature and Fine Art. Born
and raised in central Washington,
Donald E. Norris began his life's
journey at an early age when he enlisted
in the U.S. Army at the age of 17.
After completing a tour of duty in
Viet Nam in 1969, Don traveled and
photographed the US and Canada for
several years. In the mid 1970's he
settled in Northern California and
pursued a formal education at California
State University, Sacramento, receiving
a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology
with a concentration in Photography.
In 1980 he completed a Master's of
Arts Degree (Research Psychology)
and published a thesis (The Priming
Effect and Pictorial Memory) that
identified the manner in which we
mentally process photographic imagery.
In 1984, Don earned his secondary
teaching credentials and a Master
of Science degree in Education.
Donald E. Norris notes that the next
two decades of his life, fine art
photography was more avocation than
vocation. It was during that time,
Don and his wife, Darcy, found themselves
returning to Maui several times each
year to photograph and experience
the natural beauty that can be found
only in the Hawaiian Islands. In 2006,
The Norris family built a home and
art studio on the hillside overlooking
Lahaina where they now reside as full-time
residents. In 2007 they took their
interest in art to a new level and
co-founded Images Fine Art Gallery
and Custom Framing.
