Alan
Wolton was born in England in 1934. He launched
art as a professional artist at the early age
of 20. Following international recognition,
his paintings now show a revised simplicity
of statement. Concerns of what should or should
not be, now lie in the shadows of Alan Wolton´s
history. Yet always the freshness of a new approach
serves to keep his art followers on pins and
needles waiting to see the latest work. What
more can one ask of life? Most of the Wolton’s
early years were spent working plein air art.
Oil paints, easel and often-large canvasses
were carried into the wilds bringing an expression
of moving water as a frequent motivation for
paintings. Rivers, rapids and the ocean have
all been Alan Wolton´s companions, vision
for his art. 1975 brought a new direction to
his work as he launched into painting cathedrals
in London plein air. Here is an odd note: his
canvasses were limited to five feet as nothing
bigger would fit into a London taxi.
The
list of credentials and exhibitions over the
years is very impressive and in compliment to
the detailed technical aspect of his paintings
are known to achieve.
His collection of work can be found at Images
Gallery. In January 2008, Images Gallery drew
a crowd of over 90 attendees at the Lahaina
Friday Night Gallery open house. Alan was there
to meet them and will return again soon
