Hawaii has definitely inspired Garry in his paintings. Most of his recent works have been local flowers and historical buildings around Hawaii. Garry's distinctive watercolor style seems to draw your attention into the depths of his paintings, letting you explore every detail. From his studio on Oahu, Gary works layer by layer, building his paintings very slowly, sometimes taking 30 to 40 hours to complete an average piece. His exacting realistic style and attention to detail also work well with another interest of his, portraits. Usually working in charcoal or pastel from a photograph, Garry captures the subjects real personality, putting it on paper, holding it there to cherish forever.
