Realistically portraying what she sees in the world is not Christina DeHoff's goal as an artist. Painting is about communicating the spirit of a place that she feels. We often forget to see the many layers of the reality around us.

"When I paint I feel I am on a journey which for unveils a deeper layer of seeing. I am often awestruck by the emotion held within the land of Hawaii. My artwork happens when I get out of the way of the magic. In this process I surrender to becoming a vehicle of expression. It is clear to me that the gift of communicating as an artist is not something I possess; it is something I am blessed to channel through my body and soul. In those magical moments of inspiration, I am somewhere between remembering and listening. It is a daily practice for me to allow the visions to flow from a wordless place. I feel I am in the presence of a great teacher while doing this work. It is my prayer that the wise voices, visions, memories, messages, spirit animals, magical beings, ancestors, sacred lands, and faery folk continue to knock on my door."
